Description

You are now required to make a booking for all campgrounds and campsites in NSW national parks. This includes locations that were previously available for use without a booking. This is necessary to protect our visitors and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Book online or contact the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. This location is a free campground, however a booking fee of $6 per site applies. Money collected will be used to manage campground numbers and improve your safety. Located between Khancoban and Thredbo, Geehi Flats campground and picnic area is a perfect base for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and 4WD adventures in southern Kosciuszko National Park. Camping is free, however National Park Entry Fees apply. This campgrounds is suitable for tents, camper trailers, caravans, motorhomes and camping beside your vehicle. Facilities include: Picnic tables, barbecue facilities, carpark and toilets. Sites are not powered or marked. Gathering wood, generators, pets and smoking are not permitted. Youll need to bring your own firewood. Campfires and solid fuel burners may be subject to temporary bans during summer fire season. Gas or fuel stoves are recommended. Tucked off Alpine Way drive, Geehi Flats campground has flat, grassy sites by the banks of the Swampy Plain River. Pitch your tent or set up your camper or caravan with a view of the soaring high alpine peaks of the Snowy Mountains as a backdrop. In summer, the crystal-clear Swampy Plain River is ideal for swimming, tubing or kayaking. Fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout is a popular pastime here. There are also great 4WD trails around Geehi Walls, Major Clews Hut, and Tom Groggin. As the sun sets on the mountains, relax around the campfire and watch the resident Eastern grey kangaroos grazing. Geehi is also home to a large population of wombats. Closer to dark, you might see shy red-necked and swamp wallabies, as well as possums. All 2WD
