Thredbo Diggings
CampgroundDescription
You are now required to make a booking for all campgrounds and campsites in NSW national parks. This includes locations that were previously available for use without a booking. This is necessary to protect our visitors and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Book online or contact the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757.
Camp under the snow gums at secluded Thredbo Diggings campground by the Thredbo River, and explore the walks, mountain biking, fishing and alpine attractions on its doorstep. Camping is free, but national park entry fees apply. Bookings are not required at this campground. Campsites are available on a first-in first-served basis.
Sites are unpowered and suitable for tents, camper trailers, caravans and camping beside your vehicle. Facilities include picnic tables, barbecue facilities and non-flush toilets. Bring your own drinking water, cooking water and firewood. You can buy firewood, along with ice, at the office at Jindabyne, Thredbo village or Lake Crackenback Resort. Rubbish bins are not available, so please take your rubbish with you when leaving.
There's limited mobile reception in this area.
All 2WD vehicles need to carry snow chains in winter, between June and October long weekends, on:
Kosciuszko Road (to Perisher)
Guthega Road
Alpine Way between Thredbo and Tom Groggin
Snow chains are recommended for all vehicles driving in the park, including 4WD and AWD, in the event of extreme weather.
Pets and domestic animals (other than certified assistance animals) are not permitted.
