Burrima Boardwalk - Macquarie Marshes
Point of InterestDescription
A window in the Marshes.
Accessible for registered visitors. Constructed walkway on private land through a section of the Macquarie Marshes. The walkway is just above the ground and water and meanders around for approximately 2 km through red river gum forest and mixed marsh vegetation with a sweeping view for kilometres over the northern reedbed of the Macquarie Marshes.
The site is recovering from a wildfire in 2019 and looking great from rain in autumn 2020 and inundation from outflow of the Macquarie River. Currently receiving releases of environmental water which will improve the condition of the area.
A great opportunity to experience Macquarie Marshes up close. Abundance of birds and wildlife to be seen and heard. Aquatic vegetation beginning to thrive with warmer weather in spring.
'Kakadu of the south'. A must see for anyone interested in seeing the Marshes.
