Illaroo Lookout
Point of InterestDescription
Scenic lookout over the Shoalhaven river with views of nearby rock formations and extinct volcanoes in the distance.
Park at the small turnout. There are two trails visible. The gated area is the continuation of the Illaroo Firetrail. The smaller trail to the right is accessed by walking between the large boulders placed to prevent dumping and further vehicle access.
After a 2 minute walk you'll come to multiple vantage points. There is no signage, fences or toilets. Extreme care must be taken around edges. Use caution
Vehicle access to the site could be managed fairly easily by 2wd vehicles. Spaces to turn around are limited in parts. The road is mostly unsealed with two water crossings. The first water crossing was approximately 15cm deep. The second only presents itself after heavy rain. Both are causeways.
Soft roaders such as Subarus and other awd vehicles will make it here hassle free.
Gorgeous views from many angles.
