The Montreal Goldfield, located on the far south coast of New South Wales offers a great outing for families, experience seekers, interest groups of all ages.
Guided tours by trained local historians reveal the mysteries and anecdotes of times gone by. Tours run daily at 2pm, or by appointment. (No tours on Christmas Day or Good Friday) Admission to the site is by guided tour only.
Follow boardwalks through the beautiful native forest, re-grown since the days of the gold rush moonscape where time has brought back to life a forest of tree ferns, eucalypts and orchids, inhabited by sugar gliders, lizards and diverse bird life.
A browse through the Heritage Centre highlights the intriguing stories told by the guides.Toilet facilities and drinks are available.
