Ovolo Nishi is a place of collaborative craftsmanship conceived of and made by artists, makers, designers and fantasists. The hotel sits in the environmentally thoughtful, pineapple shaped Nishi building, within Canberra???s arts and culture precinct, NewActon. Ovolo Nishi has 68 rooms. We call them Cosy Atrium, Original Sun, Original Atrium, Creative Sun, Creative Atrium and Meandering Atrium. Each one is unique. Restored twentieth century furnishings, collected objects and original artworks inform each room. Half of the rooms??? hardwood timber windows open onto the sun, lake and trees, the other half onto the internal atrium populated with ferns from Tasmanian forests destined for clearance. The public spaces include a library stocked with small press books, fireplaces, and the Monster kitchen and bar serving up locally sourced seasonal food.
