Description

Archer Point is a short 20 minute drive from Cooktown along the sealed Mulligan Highway and unsealed Archer Point Road. The road is well maintained and usually accessible to all vehicles, however it is advisable to check before travelling as conditions can change during the wet season. Overnight camping is limited to this site. Misuse of the area has resulted in damage to the coastal ecosystem, and all other former camping areas are temporarily closed while rehabilitation is undertaken. There are no facilities at Archer Point when visiting ensure you are prepared to take your own waste with you when you leave, and have adequate fresh water. All visitors are asked to respect the area, keep pets restrained and not take other domestic animals such as horses.
