The Marine Hotel has been serving food and alcohol since 1864, when settlers first arrived in Cardwell. It was the first licenced establishment in Queensland. The hotel's structure has changed a few times over the years. It was originally a two-story building but is now a single-story building with a veranda all around overlooking the beautiful Coral Sea.
