Bellbird - Gluepot Reserve
CampgroundDescription
Gluepot is located about 64kms from Waikerie, which is on the Sturt Highway (Highway No. 20) about 200kms from Adelaide. The last ~50km are unsealed and partly sandy and can become corrugated. Travelling time from Waikerie is ~75-90 min. It is best to phone ahead for an update on conditions, any closures, and the suitability of your vehicle (08) 8892 8600.
Speed limit on Gluepot is 40km/h. Don't let your sat-nav lead you astray - entry to Gluepot is only via Lunn Road (from Goyder Highway).
There are 3 campsites at Gluepot (Babbler, Bellbird and Sitella) which are available for visitors to use. Camping fees are payable after arrival in Gluepot at the Visitor Information Centre, situated on track 1. Both day visitors and campers need to register there as well. This campsite does not take bookings.
Tracks are suitable for 2WD and medium caravans when dry. However, after approx 20mm of rain, they may be closed or affected by water and suitable for 4WD only. Phone (08) 8892-8600 for advice after rain.
Sites are unpowered and are suitable for tents, camper trailers and caravans. Long drop toilets are available.
Visitors are advised that they will travel through private property before reaching the Gluepot boundary (speed limit 60km/h). They should avoid stopping and under no circumstances are they to camp. They should be aware of the possible presence of kangaroos, cattle, or other feral animals and drive accordingly, and all gates should be left as found.
Visitors must be self sufficient and provide everything they need including their own water, food, fuel etc. They must also remove all their rubbish.
On Gluepot Reserve, there are no fires of any sort permitted except gas fires (these may also be banned on a total fire ban day), no pets, no generators and no firearms.
It is recommended to carry a map and compass/GPS as there is no phone reception.
