Description

Located 540 km north of Adelaide and 240m above sea level, Beltana is a truly remarkable State Heritage listed town in outback South Australia. Settlers began arriving in the area in the 1850s and 60s, and the town was surveyed in 1873. It is hard to imagine today that the little town grew to boast a population of 390 with 70 houses by 1883. You need to drive past Beltana Station and into the town to reach us. All buildings in Beltana are privately owned and occupied and we have a permanent population of 35 and an active community of 65. You are welcome to walk around the town and read the interpretive signage. We have recently built visitor facilities for you to have a picnic by the creek. Camping available at the hall book on Hipcamp's. Please bring your own firewood and do not collect firewood in the town. Please camp in the numbered sites and use the fire pit. Potable water is available from an RO plant at the site. This is a community run facility and all proceeds go back into the community. We do open up the hall when we are around and do have a bar, it is not however open every night as we are volunteers . We do hope you enjoy our facilities
