Description

Coward Springs Campground offers toilets, showers and swimming. It is dog friendly. Camping Fees, $18 per Adult $8 Kids 5-15 Day visit Strictly 9 am - 4 pm $3 per adult, $1 kids 5-15 It is accessible to motorbikes, RVs, camper trailers and caravans. Camping in tents is allowed. Coward Springs is also a working Date Farm with Coffee, Dates and Date products available from the Shop during the season, try the Date Ice cream! Merch is also available! There is a 29 degree C warm artesian spa, 6 feet by 8 feet in which to have a dip. A donkey boiler provides the heat for warm showers, so check out the machinery involved. Old timbers have been put to great reuse around the spa, shower and toilet buildings. The owners have restored the engine drivers cottage to the rear of the campground. It is an interesting little museum containing some sign boards and photographs about the Old Ghan, the Afghan cameleers and the Coward Springs Rail sidings. The excess water from the bore flows to the desert and supports a myriad of birds, plants and animals in its wetland. Some of the date palms were planted by the Afghans in the late 1800s. Tamerisk trees were planted early 20th century and provide great shade and character! Bring your own firewood as no collection is permitted. Firewood boxes are available for $20, There are established fire places to use. Camping bookings are highly recommended during peak season April to October.
