Description

The Appealinna ruins can be reached via a track approximately 20 kilometres north of the Wilpena turnoff on Hawker-Blinman Road. The three-kilometre dirt track is gravel & doable in a conventional 2wd, but I'm sure the ride would've been much more comfortable in a 4WD. The area has the ruins of both pastoralists Joseph Wills' southern pastoral run and the miners' northern settlement. Interpretive signs have been erected around Appealinna for your reading pleasure, as well as a carpark and picnic table. This is a free point of interest. No camping or overnight parking allowed.
