Description

Laura Bay Conservation Park represents the original vegetation that once covered South Australia's western coastline. The sheltered bay, with its tidal samphire flats and mangroves, provides ideal feeding grounds for sea birds, many of which migrate from the northern hemisphere each year. Look for the landing site that can still be seen on the headland. Established in 1911, this site was once a hive of activity, where bags of grain, transported by horse-drawn drays from surrounding farms, were loaded onto ketches. There is a road to the headland, can be a bit rough!
