Mural of Fisherman
Point of InterestDescription
The Port Pirie CBD is more colourful and attractive after the completion of a mural on the Woolworths wall in Norman Street.
The design of the fisherman painted by Joel Van Moore and chosen by the public via an online poll, depicts the cultural and fishing heritage of Port Pirie.
Mr Van Moore spent almost a week painting the mural and describes the work as one of his best yet and believes the community response will speak for itself.
Mr Van Moore, an artistic director for the Wonderwalls Festival was contracted as the council believed a public art feature that would add extra colour to the recent CBD upgrade.
The council Director of Corporate and Community, James Holyman says the council is extremely impressed with the result and Van Moore's work.
