Blackmans Lagoon is accessed by the Blackmans Lagoon Road which runs off the B52.
Visitors are encouraged to bring gas stoves or barbecues for cooking. Campfires, if permitted outside of summer season, should be at least three metres from any overhanging vegetation or trees.
Dogs are welcome in the reserve but must be leashed to avoid wandering outside of camp zones, through vegetation, disturbance of wildlife.
There is no rubbish collection in the reserve and all visitors are asked to 'wildlife-proof' rubbish and remove it on departure.
Boats can be launched from signed beach access points at Blizzards Landing Boatramp along the main Homestead Road. The shoreline is a nesting place for many birds and vehicles are permitted on the beach only to launch and retrieve boats.
A four-wheel-drive track extending from the end of the Blackmans Lagoon Road to the surf beach, provides vehicular access to the southern part of the reserve. This is a dangerous 4WD beach with changing conditions used mainly by people surf fishing. There is no access north along the beach to South Croppies Point.
