Lake Mackintosh Campground
CampgroundDescription
Located 5km from Tullah, Lake Mackintosh is stocked with brown and rainbow trout and surrounded by beautiful rainforest. There are two boat ramps and a spacious campground at the lake. There are no facilities. Campers need to be self-sufficient. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
The primary boat ramp is concrete, with the West ramp being gravel. To access these facilities travel over Mackintosh Dam and spillway.
Note: access to this site and boat ramp is closed when the lake spills. Visitors must evacuate when the water level is high, as identified on the evacuation gauge board sign.
Pets are permitted.
There are several easy bush walking tracks around the lake or take a three-hour return walk to the summit of Mt Farrell through lush forest past old mines and through areas of buttongrass. From the summit there are amazing views of Tasmania's wilderness.
You need a licence to fish for trout in Tasmania's lakes.
Max 14 night stay
