Description

The four Stumpys Bay sites are just a stones throw from the beach, and well sheltered behind a canopy of trees. Theres a good chance youll see wallabies around the campground, and wake to the sound of kookaburras. Pit toilets are located at each campsite, but there is no drinking water or power supply. Bore water is available for washing at Stumpys Bay Campground 1 and 3, and at Deep Creek. Fires may only be lit in fireplaces provided. Portable cooking stoves or fire pots are recommended. Stumpys 2 is a Fuel Stove Only Area and fires are not permitted. There is a Day Use Area adjacent to Stumpys 4 campground which has a shelter, picnic tables and gas barbecues that can be used on Total Fire Ban days. Gladstone is the nearest town for groceries, petrol, firewood, meals and accommodation. 24 hour fuel is available in St Helens. No bookings are taken. Deposit boxes are situated at Stumpys 1 and Deep Creek campground, or discounted week-long camping tags can be purchased at the Gladstone Store. A valid parks pass is required for entry to Tasmania's national parks. Campgrounds and narrow access tracks are not suitable for large caravans and motorhomes. Small to medium sized caravans and motorhomes can be accommodated in all campgrounds except Stumpys Bay Number 2, in the north of the park. There are no rubbish collections so please take all your rubbish with you. You can use the Gladstone Recycling Centre which is open Wednesday 1-5pm, Saturday 8am-4pm, Sunday 10am-5pm. Pets are not permitted.
