Roaring 40s Kayaking - Hobart TASMANIA
Description
The Roaring 40s are the winds associated with the 40° latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere. They are a consistently brisk westerly airstream fuelled by the continuous passages of low-pressure systems of the southern ocean. They are the winds that the old sailing ships used to make fast passages to and from Australia. Tasmania lies in the path of these winds, which blow most strongly during spring and to a lesser extent autumn.
