Gabyon Station Stay
CampgroundDescription
Just a two hour drive from Geraldton, Gabyon offers you the unique chance to visit or stay on a real, working West Australian sheep station. Step out of the bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the expansive and beautiful landscape of the outback and become part of the real, authentically Australian country life. Soak in the peace and tranquility as you gaze over hectares of wildflowers and an abundance of wildlife, or get your hands dirty and help out in the every-day life of the station - there is always plenty of work to be done! The outback life is something every Australian and International traveler should experience at least once - and where better than here with all of us at Gabyon?
We offer many choices of affordable accommodation here at Gabyon; bring your own camping equipment or book a room in the rustic shearers or homestead quarters (affectionately known as the 'Bull Pen'). Each room has a double and a single bed and you can bring your own linen/swag or we can provide what you need. There is a communal campers kitchen if you want to bring your own food (or come and eat with us!) and toilet and shower facilities are available for use. Please note camping sites and Shearers Quarters rooms are not powered, but there is generator power for lights in communal areas and hot water is available by using the fire lit "donkey". We are happy to assist you with any questions you may have - and there are always some about the mysterious "donkey". If you want to have a camp fire we have plenty of fire pits available so make sure you bring marshmallows!
Mike and Helen invite you to join the family at the main homestead for some fabulous home cooking. This is a real opportunity to have a chat and learn more about the day to day running of the station - to share in some of the hardships facing our farmers today as well daily events and stories. Helen is a whizz in the kitchen, her slices and desserts will ensure you never go hungry, and we think Gemma's woodfired pizzas, made in an oven fashioned out of an old "donkey heater", are better than those straight outta an Italian restaurant! *Please note, given the remoteness of the station, catered meals will be subject to supplies available. Please speak with us when booking about any allergies or dietary requirements and we will do our bestto accommodate you.
Dogs are not permitted.
