Gairdner River
CampgroundDescription
An unofficial, unnamed camping spot on the banks of the beautiful Gairdner River.
There are about 6 or so unofficial spots along the river accessible via the entry bush track, where you could set up camp.
Some are big enough for a few vehicles, some only big enough for single vehicle/tent setup.
You could get in with a camper trailer, or possibly a pop-up caravan, but watch out for low hanging tree branches.
If there has been recent rains, the track in can be full of shallow and medium sized large pot holes, so please take care, as those puddles of water may be deeper than you think.
I believe 1080 baits are in the area, so probably not good place to take your pets.
Telstra mobile coverage is intimitted, but yes your phone will pick up a weak signal at times.
You'll need to be fully self-sufficient, camping at this location, there are no facilities at all.
The Gairdner River in the area of the campsite is majestic and breathtaking with the bluff lining the northern shore and further up river, along the southern shore.
Fauna is abundant around the campsite, however I had no luck fishing in the river.
Lastly the river was rather low when I visited in May 2021, so if exploring up the river via watercraft, watch out for heaps of rocks just below the surface in either direction.
