Mount Herbert Summit
600m - 25 minutes return
Follow the Chichester Range Camel Trail to the base of Mount Herbert then follow the track to the top for panoramic views of the Chichester Ranges and the Roebourne coastal plain. There are short steep sections and some steps. The ground is uneven with loose rocks.
McKenzie Spring
4.5km return - Allow. 2.5 hours
Follow the Chichester Range Camel Trail to McKenzie Spring, once a watering hole for camel and bullock teams. The spring is not suitable for swimming or drinking. There are short steep sections and some steps. The ground is uneven with loose rocks.
Chichester Range Camel Trail
8km one way - Allow 3 hours (begin at Mount Herbert and have a vehicle meet you at Python Pool car park)
16km return - Allow 6 hours (begin at Python Pool car park)
Follow the Chichester Range Camel Trail to Python Pool.
This trail is for very experienced bushwalkers and is best
walked between April and September as there is no shelter from the sun. It includes steep gradients and natural obstacles including loose rocks. You will walk via McKenzie Spring before eventually reaching the Cameleers Lookout. From here it is 1.2km to Python Pool. Enjoy a rest and take in the views before descending. Use caution as the track surface is loose and rocky.
