Caron Bitumised Dam Flow Off
Point of InterestDescription
Large bitumen catchment in the Caron Dam Bush Reserve. With a good natural catchment area, Caron became the main railway centre because of the difficulty supplying adequate water. The railway was opened in 1913 and the dam was completed in 1915. Follow the trail to the pump station and railway dam that is still covered by a massive corrugated iron roof. The walk is approximately 1km. Here you can sometimes find orchids and bird life.
