Goordgeela Carpark & Trail Head
Point of InterestDescription
Mount Augustus is dominated by a type of sandstone, however there are also boulders of other rock types such as fine-grained siltstones up to 60cm in diameter derived from older pre-existing rock units. These can be observed along the trail to Goordgeela Lookout.
Goordgeela Lookout Trail
The trail follows a normally dry, rocky creek bed for part of the way and then becomes steeper on approach to the lookout. From here, on the north side of Mount Augustus, there are views of the Lyons River meandering through the plain and the Godfrey Range to the north.
Distance: 3km return Time: 1.5 - 3 hours Difficulty: Class 4
