Jewel Cave is the biggest show cave in Western Australia, with three massive chambers of incredible beauty. This crystal-encrusted cave is the most recently opened of all the show caves in the Margaret River region.
This fully guided 1 hr tour showcases the breathtaking magnitude of this cave. You will see towering crystal creations that have taken thousands of years to form, and intricate decorations stretching and suspended across the ceiling, like vines and dancing cobwebs. It also contains many beautiful examples of delicate helictites, cave coral, pendulites, a very large stalagmite called 'The Karri Forest', and amazing examples of flowstone such as 'The Frozen Waterfall' and 'the Organ-pipes'.
You'll hear stories of the now-extinct Tasmanian Tigers that fell into the cave and perished. Fossilised remains of several Tasmanian Tigers or 'Thylacines' have been discovered within Jewel Cave's chambers, safely preserved more than 3000 years after the unusual marsupial became extinct on mainland Australia. There is a skeleton of a thylacine on display in the Jewel Cave centre.
Your awe-inspiring crystal journey is perfectly complemented with the option of a self-guided Karri Walk through the towering forest giants. Jewel Cave Cafe also offers delicious coffee, light lunches and refreshments complete with karri forest views.
