Daniel Crotty was a mail contractor responsible for the Marengo to Burrowa delivery route (now known as Murringo to Boorowa).
Daniel was approximately 30 years of age when he was shot near Willawong Creek by three bushrangers on 16th August 1862. Daniel was of Irish heritage and remembered as short of stature with red hair. He wore the regulation postal uniform and carried a small brass bugle which he tootled when approaching the Post Office.
